Hello Christopher,

I’m sorry we haven’t replied to your post, but for cases like this, we always recommend you reach out to our support staff: Contact us

I’ll of course try to help you with your issue here as well: I have one of our 1961 subs hooked up to my PC, and whenever the GPU (graphics card) sees high utilization, I always get a hum from my subwoofer. At first it sounded like an HVAC noise and I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. When I realized it came from the subwoofer, I simply unplugged the RCA’s from my audio interface, and the hum disappeared. I suspect the issue in my case is something called “coil whine” from the GPU that induces hum/noise to the subwoofer. If I had a 1723 subwoofer, I think using XLR cables instead of RCA could eliminate the noise, but since the 1961 subs only accepts RCA inputs, I won’t be able to check. If you have XLR or TRS outputs from your PC/sound card, it could be worth testing.

If you contact our support team and attach some video examples of the issues, we will be better able to help you get to the bottom of this!

Hello Fernando,

Thank you! Yes, taming that bump/slope by adding a filter 30Hz (the peak is at 20Hz) will definitely make it smoother. I prefer a slight upward slope, but the current slope is a little too excessive for my taste. I’ll post my results once I have time to tinker with it!

Hello Carlos,

As Fernando mentions, it’s most likely due to placement and room interactions. May I ask how much distance you have between the speakers and the front/side walls? I would try placing the speakers further from the walls and/or plugging the ports to see if that helps at all. Please keep us posted if our suggestions change anything!

Hello Chris,

As of now, we’re only looking to fill full-time positions.

Hello! Here is my bass response from the 1961 sub 1s. By no means perfect, but considering it’s my desktop/office setup without any processing, it’s more than I could ever ask for and it sounds awesome!

Hello Riccardo,

Does the window go along the entire right wall, or does it stop where the curtain is, close to the back of the couch?

The Dolby guidelines say to mount them a little bit behind the listening position (Dolby Guidelines), but if that isn’t possible, having them directly to the side will also be a nice compromise. It’s important to remember that no room is perfect, and you’ll simply have to find the compromise that works for you!

Great answer by Fraser!

You can also look at this page: Dolby Link and find your configuration. let’s say you have a 5.1.4 setup (Link) you can see the recommended placement for both surround and height channels. If you don’t have height speakers, you can simply focus on the bed-layer in this article.

Hello Paul,

What amp to choose is really down to personal preference. Both the ones you suggest are very capable! Personally, I don’t think I would get an amp without room correction or bass management. No room is perfect, but with room correction, you will have the option to correct some of the shortcomings of the room. If you’re looking for an integrated amp, some brands to check out: Lyngdorf, Anthem, and NAD to mention a few. Again; Just because I prefer room correction, doesn’t mean you need to.

Before you replace your Yamaha: I’m using an RX-A2060 receiver, so I’m not entirely sure what settings are available to you, but if these are available, make sure they are disabled: Enhancer and Adaptive DRC. Enhancer is meant to upscale low-bitrate audio, but it basically just removes any bass detail that might have been present in the track. Adaptive DRC can help at lower levels, but I’ve found that it can fall apart and cause distortion at louder levels.

Hello George,

Yes, the speakers are certainly heavy, and mounting heavy stuff to drywall is always a challenge! If you’re able to find a stud, that would make the mounting more secure, but you should be able to use our included mounts paired with some drywall anchors. If you end up going this route, I would consult with a professional to make sure the anchors and drywall itself is up for the task. If not, placing them on stands will also give you nice results!
