Hello Rene,

I’m running the speakers on a 100 watt 2 channel stereo Harman Kardon amp now with 1723 on one side and Infinity on the other. I switch back and forth with the balance control. the 1723 sounds better than it did on my Marants avr. The 1723 does sound good and it sounds better than the Infinity but not by a large margin. I’m going to continue burn in and try it again on my Marantz. Thanks for the reply.

Hello Lukas,

I’ve listened to the 1723 monitors and they sound non compressed and life like, or real. Do the 1723S share that same quallty? Do they have the same wide sound stage? I want to get 1723S monitors for my bed layer surrounds and 1723S heights for atmos. I plan to purchase two 250 watt 6 channel class D amps to power them. I’m trying to decide on the L/C/R. Would it sound better have 1723 monitors up front for a larger sound stage or have the 1723S monitors up front as well so all the speakers are the same size, I kind of like that idea to have the perfect sound bubble. Or does it matter? what would do based on your experience with these speakers? Thanks for the reply.

I also know about Tonewinner. They make good products for the money, they also make products for other big name companys like Emotiva. I’m considering buying a Tonewinner processor, got good reviews, no extra bell and whistles I do not need, and the price is about a 1/3 the cost of the big names. Tone winner amps are class A/B and the Buckeye amps are class D built with Hypex NCORE . Buckeye amps are built in the USA by a one man outfit and I’ve seen nothing but positive reviews.

Has anyone used Buckeye amps with Arendal speakers? I’ve read good things about them and the specs and price look good. The only thing is it takes nine weeks to get one. They are made to order. They offer a thirty day return policy.

Thanks for the replies, you guys are a wealth of information. The article was great too. I was thinking more power might be better but I was worried about damaging the speakers.

I have considered the Monolith 7x amp or the ATI class A/B amps. I have never had a separate power amp. I am currently running a 7.1 setup with a 90 watt Marantz A/V receiver, Infinity speakers, and a Velodine sub-woofer. Setup is about 17 years old so definitely time for an upgrade. In searching for speakers I read many good things about Arendal. What processor can members recommend that sounds good but dose not cost more than the amp? Thanks to the members for the replies, you have been very helpful.
