I currently use a Denon 3800 to run a 5.2 system – 1723 S towers for LCR, a pair of 1961 bookshelf for surrounds, 2 1723 1V subs.

AH OK.  So, that seems to be an optimal position according to the article.

Robert, thank you for the response!  If you could respond with your findings when setting the speakers to large, I’d greatly appreciate it.  I’m looking to make the purchase in the coming weeks and will be experimenting.  I read an article in the Support -> Product Specific/Technical section (“1723 Monitor S vs 1723 Tower S as Front Speakers?”) and it mentioned that if using 1723 towers its ideal to have the subs at one side of the listening position or behind the LP.  I gather I will be experimenting with that to find the best integration.  Again, Robert, thank you for sharing!

Hello.  I’m fairly new to this hobby and am looking to set up a 7.1 surround setup.  So far, I know that I’m going with the 1723 S THX towers for my LCR and 1961 bookshelves for the surrounds.  I also plan on purchasing the Denon x3800h receiver, but I’m still deciding what amp to go with.  I’ve narrowed the amps down to the Emotiva XPA7 Gen 3 and the Monolith 7x.  I will be watching movies mainly (about 70% movies to 30% music).  My room is about 2700 cu ft and will be sitting roughly 10 ft away from the speakers.  Both amps get great reviews and bench test really well.  I gather that I can’t go wrong with either choice.  But, for those who may have been in the same perdicament, what influenced your decision to go with either amp?

Please forgive me if this question has already been asked, I just joined the community.

Thank you!
