Very nice Arendal bench Richard! Who did you engrave it?

Hello Chris,

300W at 4 Ohms would already give you a lot of headroom. You could get ~105 dB, 100 dB being a nightclub, and the WHO recommends no more than 8 minutes a week at 105 dB. So that would be very loud.

It doesn’t mean you can get more (I am using class-d amps, 400 watts at 4 Ohms), but pushing the speakers at ear bleeding level will eventually damage them.

Have a nice one

Hello William,

Everybody has different tastes and ears, so I won’t comment on an amplifier being better than another.

We believe in having enough clean power to drive your speakers without distortion. Class D amplifiers can be good at this, and so can other amplifiers. That being said, I like adding some tubes in my preamp section on top of my class D power amp for music. Different ears, different tastes.

Why do you want to change your NAD amplifier? What are you missing at the moment? Our speakers are very transparent, and unless your NAD was struggling driving them (which I doubt given its power rating), I don’t think you will get a huge difference getting a more powerful amp.

But HiFi is a journey and I think that sometimes it’s better to listen and measure by yourself to make up your mind instead of reading online.

I have the AVM70 and I love it. I’ll try to share my frequency response later this week.

Hello,

Of course, we care about you, and we’ll be sure to make announcements here first when we’ll have announcements to make. Nothing new on the short-term horizon, we just retired the 1961 series and will focus on the 1723 for now.

Hello Chris,

Dual subwoofers will be better for different reasons. It will allow you to have more “better seats” and will pressurize the room better, with less distortion. So louder, cleaner, with more good seats.

Dual 1S could work, and they are pretty small so easy to place, which is a great thing as placement is key and you will want to try as many spots as possible to find the best ones. But as Kris mentioned, the 1V sounds like a better option in your case.

If you leave the seat-to-seat consistency and room modes aside, there will still be differences as the subwoofers will need less power hence less distortion to get the same bass output when you have 2 compared to 1. Would it be audible? Probably, depending on your room.
Finally, from a psychoacoustic point of view, some people can “feel” where the bass is coming from and will enjoy 2 subwoofers to reduce this effect. We’re not equal to this and some people won’t hear a difference with 2 subs versus one. So would it be audible? No idea, it depends on your ears and brain.

I would recommend starting with 1×1723 1V and see if you feel like you’re missing anything.
