Satin for me.

I do not like the dust showing from gloss, fingerprints, or reflections the gloss can have.  My center channel is right below my 85″ TV so when the TV has a bright scene it could reflect off the gloss finish.

The satin on the Arendals looks great and better in person than photos can reveal.

Thanks for your take on the Marantz Model 30.  I have a Marantz 7015 but have it hooked up to other speakers and not my Arendal 1723 towers.

Curious, what type of music did you play with the Marantz 30?

Thanks!

Hi OrianPax36,

Thank you for the response!  Good idea!  I know Arendal recommends putting the center channel vertically to be more seamless in sound as the towers, but I doubt I will have room under the TV to put the center channel vertically and I do not want to put the TV too high.  I will be setting up the component stand (from Monoprice which is built like a tank like the Arendal speakers) and TV wall mount and TV this weekend.

I also noticed you have a Marantz receiver or processor.  I have the Marantz SR7015 in a different area and love it.  I also noticed you have Emotive amplifiers.  I may add amplifers down the road so I can bi-amp my speakers.  How do you like the Emotive amplifers?  I am also considering an Emotiva processor, Marantz, Anthem, and Monoprice (open to others that will have HDMI 2.1 support) processor.  Someone told me the Emotiva processors take a long time to boot up when turned on.  They said it took longer to turn on the Emotive processor than the projector.  I had not heard that before from anyone else so not sure if it is a setting they have.

Thanks!

It really shows how well built the Arendal speakers are.  I just recently purchased the 1723 towers and 1723 2V subwoofer.  I am waiting on the center channel as it is back ordered, but cannot wait to hear them shine.  I want to upgrade my amplifiers and receiver/processor someday though.

Hi Szabó,

I like your picture.  It looks like you bought a stand for the bookshelf speaker and put a board or something on top to put the center channel on top?  How did you do that?  It looks very professional.

I recently bought the 1723 2V.  I prefer the sealed subwoofer sound with music, but like the extra extension of the vented during movies.  I like Arendal includes the foam to plug the vent to convert it to a sealed subwoofer.  I look forward to hearing and testing the subwoofer in both scenarios.

I am sure you will love the 1723 2S

Hi OrionPax36,

That is a good idea!  I did not think of something like that.  How many are you using?  It looks like 4 from the picture.  I doubt I need to do 2 high/vertically.  Not sure if you have more behind.

Thanks!

I set my speakers to small and have the 1723 tower speakers with an external amp. For any individuals who prefer the large setting when listening to music one quick and easy method is to do “Direct” on most receivers as it will bypass the bass management and if you are listening to stereo it will bypass the bass management of the LFE subwoofer assuming you are using the LFE connection from the receiver. It can usually be fine with 1 button. Then you can change back to surround format.
