Hi William

It is a matter of personal taste. I grew up with Class A/B. I tried a Class D amp, it was an expensive one so had good components. Regardless what anyone tells me, there is a “signature” sound I heard and it wasn’t for me. So, I purchased a higher end A/B and couldn’t be more happy. Like I say, some will chose the opposite. Not saying Class D isn’t good, just different.

That’s great Brian. Very happy you found what you were searching for. Thank you for letting me know.

Enjoy your new amp and have fun. Take care.

Hi Brian

Sorry I’m a little late to the game. I have the Hegel H-190 and use it with the 1723 Monitors (full size). If you are looking for a neutral amp that does not embellish on the sound, then give it a try. I tried a class d from Marantz and found it was too bass heavy for my liking but this is a personal taste. The H-190 has more than enough power to drive these speakers. HEGEL’S volume control is simply 1-100, the higher the number the more loud. I’ve never been able to go past 60, just to loud for my liking. Once again, neutrality is what HEGEL amps are about. They reproduce what’s on the recording and that’s it. If you like an amp that will “add” base that’s not really there, look elsewhere.

It will play incredible base if it’s on the recording. All through the other part of the frequency spectrum, the H-190 is very good.

Hi Lukas

I think your missing my intention. If someone needs something they cannot find in their location, maybe someone else has access to it and can send it to them. Maybe someone has no use for something someone else does and can pass it on. As in Rob’s case, I do metal work, so maybe I could make him brackets to fulfill a need. It’s not about keeping info away from anyone on the forum, there’s just no way for two people helping each other as in the examples given. As I had mentioned initially, forums are new to me. If this is not a normal way of communicating with others, no problem, lets leave things as they are.

Hi Lukas

Just as an example of ways to communicate directly is a member named Rob. He is looking for brackets to hold his speakers in place. This would be a good way for other members to help him out, that is of course if people would want to. I for one would be glad to. Not pushing anything, again just an example.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>  This is one of the reasons I brought up about some method of people being able to communicate off the forum so to speak. People could help each other with ideas, products and things like that. I metal work, simple special brackets for those speakers could be made easily. I’m going to make my own metal speaker stands when my audio room is completed. Maybe someday Arendal will provide this service. I hope it works out for you. Let us know what you come up with.</p>

Yes Arkmann, that is some great music. Definitely from my era. Steve Wilson has some great music from his band Porcupine Tree as well. So much great music, yet not enough years to hear it all.

If you ran the cable behind the shelf, since the cable will be attached to the monitor anyway, I can’t see how the speaker could fall over. In other words, push the speaker back in position, then attach the cable to the shelf, shelf bracket or where you can. Run the cable behind the shelf that is. Worth a shot. Let us know what you settle on.

Hi Rob

If you want to go simplistic, you could actually use a piece of vinyl coated cable like they use on tv’s to keep from tipping. You would only need to connect the cable to one screw. Run the cable down to a connection point after the speaker is pushed back into place. A cable would also allow you some freedom of movement. It’s actually easier to do than you may realize. Just another idea.

You have me thinking about these songs from Phil Collins. Imagine his music being produced now with the great audio recording/reproducing technology (if of course it was recorded properly) we have these days compared to that time period. Not that they are not good. Happy listening!
