2 subs in diferent locations in the room play 3db louder, and 2 subs stacked have 6db more output.

Dual opposed subwoofers are sort of stacked subs and have also many benefits.

A small room has more roomgain but i also have no idea how much it wil be.

They sound the same at reference or calibrated level, but when you listen on lower volume the less sensitive surrounds loose more output then the rest of the system.

For THX the 3 front speakers must be the same design for that reason.

My settings with the audyssey multeq editor app, only correction to 500hz for al 7 speakers and subwoofer.

And the Midrange compensation off, it sounds perfect for music and movies.

When you are close to the speakers in a smaller room, bigger drivers are not always better.

The bigger drivers have more center distance to the tweeter and sound to close not as a whole unit.

I love the 1961 series i have a atmos setup with 7 speakers, the 1723 s series is big for most normal living rooms.

When your towers need 2 watt the surrounds need 16 watt indeed, and the system plays at 95db@1 meter its already verry loud.

Every normal avr can handle that load easy.

THX referentie volume is 85db avarage at the listening position, how loud do you watch movies?

0db volume on most avrs is 79.5db average, if you set the volume on +5.5 its thx level and extreme loud.

Almost any receiver can drive the speakers, only on extreme loud levels it give problems.

I have 5.1.2 atmos with 1961 speakers on a denon x3400 no problem at all.
