Good stuff to listen to 🎵

Hey guys, right now I am listening to Rammstein’s new album called “Zeit” on my 1723 S speakers (sounds great ☺️).

From a “song-perspective” it unfortunately is a mediocre album, but from a production standpoint it is quite interesting.

While not super-audiophile in nature, they used 3D-Sound as mentioned in Apple Music’s album description.

Flake’s synth sounds really seem to come from behind or appear directly in your ear, also the guitar sound is PHat.

Songs I can recommend are:

1. Angst

2. Zick Zack

3. Armee der Tristen

4. Meine Tränen

5. Giftig

Do you guys have any opinion on Rammstein’s new album?

Haha, no worries. Dire Straits actually sounds very good. If you can get the CDs from the 80s and 90s they have better dynamic range than the newer versions.

Hi,

Yes, thank you for reminding me about Dire Straits! Always looking for new music, but forget we have “pure gold” -tracks from the past.

This is one of my favorite tracks from Dire Straits, going easy and nice from the start… and ending up in a crescendo towards the end. Mighty experience on the 1723 Tower!

Great song!  Both the original album version and live versions.  Telegraph Road has a similar build pattern going from quiet to loud passages several times.

Hi @Arkman,

Yes, I agree!

Also, I find the songs more interesting and engaging when the artists bring us along on these journeys in music.

A few songs I like to use to lately to demo speakers/headphones are:

Natalie Merchants – Bleezer Ice cream store. In the song opening, how well are the voices separated? How about the deep gravely voice, is it clear and detailed?

Hanz Zimmer – Mountains. Instrument separation and dynamic range. Especially in the build up and crescendo around 1:50

Treble:

Yosi Harakawa – Interlude. The squeaky sounds on good playback speakers makes my skin crawl.

Bass:

Lorn – Diamond. Tactile? Clean?

Billie Eilish – Bury a Friend. Sound boomy?

Alva Noto & Anne James-Chaton – A-BU -> BUG… One of the most V shaped songs I’ve heard. Treble hot and bass extension.

Slam/Energy:

Dreams (feat Elise Truow) – Scary Pockets

Me and My Toothbrush and Croatia Squad – Cant Get No Love

@Rob,

Thanks for sharing, great list! I’ll dive into this tonight!

Adding a track from Blade Runner 2049 by Hans Zimmer where the bass sweep really goes deep, physically shaking your room!

Thanks for the list.  Checked the songs out last night while watching the Detroit-KC football game.  Good stuff!  Love to watch sports and listen to music instead of the announcers, especially collinsworth.

Hi All,

Just looked up a good old one.  Recorded by the Danish National Symphony Orchestra.

Room is shaking from the beginning… and her voice.!

Great album thanks for sharing!  Track 1 is awesome too with the booming kettle drums at the start and again later on.  The Deodato version is killer too.

IMHO, the debut from Flaw is a great album that not too many people have even heard of. Maybe they had bad management or the label didn’t promote well. Dunno. Either way, I’ve always found their sound to be unique. Almost symphonic with the tempo and genre changes in their music. The sound is almost like if Slipknot and Tool had a baby. Then they took a paternity test and found out they weren’t the father… Meh. Here’s a link to the entire album from my drive. It likes to be played loud. IMHO , Amendment is a stand out track, but they all go pretty hard.
