Current movies with great sound

Hey guys,

I kind of feel there are not so many new movies released with better than average sound.
Most of them are okay but lack, especially dynamics.
They sound like they were mastered for your TV and soundbar and not for a great home-cinema experience.
Basically all Marvel/Disney movies fall into that category.

What current releases stood out to you?

My last two were:

Ghostbusters: Afterlife 2021
A nice and mellow family film with great sound design. A typical Sunday afternoon movie.

Last Night in Soho 2021
A very dynamic soundtrack, sometimes even too dynamic. Nothing for people living in apartments:)
The movie was okay, nothing extraordinary.

Looking forward to your experiences.

Just got a replacement lamp for my projector. Saw X and Gran Turismo are on the list for this week:)

I thought Gran Turismo had a pretty great Atmos surround track. Good movie too. Needs to be on a projector screen too. I’ve been there with the burned out projector bulb. The struggle is real ;)

I never had a big TV, but always a projector. But with the quality and sizes of current TVs am actually thinking of switching.
Adding to that the “high-end” projector market got ridiculously expensive.

Agreed Lukas… the lower price points of larger TVs surely makes them more favorable over projectors.  In my current room I have a 77″ OLED and thus far, picture quality wise, I don’t miss the projector I had in my previous room.  That being said… once the larger OLED prices come down, the plan is to move the 77″ into our family room and purchase a larger one for the HT room.  :)

Well I have +120″ projector screen.

I would not like to go any smaller :)

And I only have a budget Benq W2700

Size does matter ;)

The BenQ TK850 4K HDR projector price wasn’t too bad, it was about the same price as the 75 inch TV I have, that the 120” screen comes down in front of. The picture and color is phenomenal.  We watch regular TV shows and stuff on the 75” and movies on the 120”. With the Home theater set up, we’re probably never going to a movie theater again. It’s been at least four years since we’ve been to a movie theater. With the cost of tickets and the highway robbery for just some popcorn, not going for four years has probably paid for my entire home theater and the Arendal speakers :-)
