Current movies with great sound

Hey guys,

I kind of feel there are not so many new movies released with better than average sound.
Most of them are okay but lack, especially dynamics.
They sound like they were mastered for your TV and soundbar and not for a great home-cinema experience.
Basically all Marvel/Disney movies fall into that category.

What current releases stood out to you?

My last two were:

Ghostbusters: Afterlife 2021
A nice and mellow family film with great sound design. A typical Sunday afternoon movie.

Last Night in Soho 2021
A very dynamic soundtrack, sometimes even too dynamic. Nothing for people living in apartments:)
The movie was okay, nothing extraordinary.

The new Spiderman did not wow me in terms of sound.
How did you like it?

For me, pacific rim takes the cake.
The sound design really enhances the sense of scale.

Also deepwater horizon has a ton of ambient creaks, explosions and stuff flying around.

san andreas, or pretty much all disaster movies are really enjoyable

It didn’t wow me either unfortunately, not like GhostBusters: Afterlife.  With that said, I think it was better than most other of the Marvel Atmos tracks (Disney).

Did you get a chance to see Adam Project on Netflix yet?

Some great suggestions already, so I will add a few of the “missed” ones that is a “must”

“Edge of Tomorrow” the opening sequence will test both your sub(s) and house/apartment to the limit, I warned you..

“Tron Legacy” superb sound mix  through the whole movie with one of the best soundtracks ever!

“The man from U.N.C.L.E” very good Atmos mix and some nice sounding scenes in it.

Everything so far had been purely action movies. Those who want something a bit simpler I can highly recommend A Star is Born. I was really pleasantly surprised by the sound mix. Everything from vocals to even smallest instruments was done really well.

This movie surprised me with its mix and overall great sound quality.

As comrade Mariusmssj says, we only talk about action movies, and the reality is that I already enjoy any movie with an acceptable audio, since I install the Arendal equipment completely with the new amplification all the movies in general are a joy and all the details are heard even at low volume. I have a “problem” and that is that most of the films I listen to dubbed into Spanish since I am Spanish, some films I do see in their original version that are heard better and are Atmos the majority. The Spanish dubbing is very good but quality is lost, it must be recognized.
