Current movies with great sound

Hey guys,

I kind of feel there are not so many new movies released with better than average sound.
Most of them are okay but lack, especially dynamics.
They sound like they were mastered for your TV and soundbar and not for a great home-cinema experience.
Basically all Marvel/Disney movies fall into that category.

What current releases stood out to you?

My last two were:

Ghostbusters: Afterlife 2021
A nice and mellow family film with great sound design. A typical Sunday afternoon movie.

Last Night in Soho 2021
A very dynamic soundtrack, sometimes even too dynamic. Nothing for people living in apartments:)
The movie was okay, nothing extraordinary.

It’s been out a while now, but I rewatched Dune 2021 version. First time since I got the new speakers.  It was like a different movie with the 1723’s LCR and the 2 SVS subs. The Atmos surround sound is insane in this movie. Base shook the house. Looking forward to part 2

Just watched The Flash. Best DC movie since James Gunn’s Suicide Squad IMHO. Great Atmos sound and visuals.

I am a little late to the party, but I finally watched Top Gun: Maverick.

I can confirm it sounds very good, the movie is very boring, unfortunately. The dog fights look great though.

Take it from someone who’s seen F-14’s land and take off from a carrier in the middle of the ocean from about 200 feet away. It never gets old watching them. And yes, the pilots do think it’s hilarious to buzz the bridge and be long gone before the boom gets there…

Re. Dune: I can’t recommend it enough for its excellent sound design. This gives me an opportunity to add a note: I’ve watched/listened to it at a baby IMAX, regular theater, and at home with 4K disc. It was only after my 1723 S upgrade that I could actually clearly hear what Lady Jessica was saying when she recited the Litany of Fear during Paul’s trial with the gom jabbar.

Evil Dead Rise 2023

This one had a surprisingly good sound.
Extremely dynamic, detailed, clear, lots of spatial effects.
Definitely a recommendation.

A friend brought over the 4K Blu-Ray.

The movie was okay, nothing special. It was fun to watch, not that creepy and disturbing.
It is more a splatter, than horror.

Someone on Reddit was kind enough to share the Atmos track from the Gravity Diamond Luxe Blu-ray with me. I synced it with a 1:1 rip of my standard Gravity Blu-ray and wow… Gravity in Atmos is a dizzying experience. Highly recommended if you can find this edition.
