Good stuff to listen to đŸŽ”

Hey guys, right now I am listening to Rammstein’s new album called “Zeit” on my 1723 S speakers (sounds great â˜ș).

From a “song-perspective” it unfortunately is a mediocre album, but from a production standpoint it is quite interesting.

While not super-audiophile in nature, they used 3D-Sound as mentioned in Apple Music’s album description.

Flake’s synth sounds really seem to come from behind or appear directly in your ear, also the guitar sound is PHat.

Songs I can recommend are:

1. Angst

2. Zick Zack

3. Armee der Tristen

4. Meine TrÀnen

5. Giftig

Do you guys have any opinion on Rammstein’s new album?

Great song.  So is This is the Picture, which was a bonus track when the CD first came out.  He’s amazing in concert.  Saw him the first time back in the summer of 1980 and he was in costume and his face painted in glitter.  Quite the theatrical showman.  Gabriel Plays Live was recorded and released about that time.

I still buy CDs from time to time.  Got a top of the line Rotel player to match my preamp and amp and started buying new and used online last year.  Amazon and eBay mostly.  I check out yard sales too.  Amazing what people Will basically give away.  Find that a lot of the new music and reissues are available through Qobuz so my purchasing has slowed down.  Saving up to buy a new boat and I have to watch my credit card bill.  However I still Subscribe to Dave’s Picks annually which release 4 Grateful Dead concerts on 3 of 4 CDs each during the year.  They usually aren’t available for streaming.  I Love owning music but the quality, variety and availability of music streaming is addictive and I’m hooked.

Check out the band, Rock Candy Funk Party.  A fusion band with Joe Bonamassa.  They’ve released several albums.  Great stuff.

Arkmann, funny you mentioned Srevie. When I was in my 20’s, a friend of mine did concert security and needed help. I had the honor of standing right in front of the stage while Stevie played. I met him before the concert and was able to talk to him. Even though he was a big star, he was very friendly and kind, no snobbishness. He signed the t-shirt on my back with a sharpie. I wore the shirt so many times, it faded but still visible is his signature. I cut the section out and still have it somewhere around here. He appeared to be a very down to earth, nice man. Shame he died so early.

I have thousands of CD’s it’s like an addiction for me. Ebay is my go to place. As long as I’m still breathing, I’m going to buy CD’s. Fortunately the wife is very supportive of this hobby. I’m using my Marantz as a transport for my Hegel. A great fantasy, is all of us on this forum could snap our fingers, be in one listening room, have a good drink and listen to music together. It’s a big world and many of us are so far apart. At least we have this.

Hi Lukas,

It’s strange how one country still loves the format and others move away from it. Still a very good format. In the USA, it’s seems to be dying a slow death as well. Maybe someday I’ll look into streaming. Being older, you can sometimes get stuck in your ways, speaking of myself. The CD format started in the late 80’s and greatly affected/infected my life in such a positive way, I just can’t let it go. My friends and I built cushioned plarforms for our early Sony portable CD players so they wouldn’t skip while driving our cars (never was completely effective). My first home CD player was one of the very first of it’s kind, a Pioneer, forget the model number.

I remember when CD’s first came out. I think it was around 1981-82, and Tucson was one of the first test markets. It was $2,000 USD for a single disc player. I was 18 and just assumed I would never be able to afford one. I still think CD’s are great, I just like the FLAC format for easier storage and access. At the moment listening to 1988’s Blow My Fuse by Kix. It’s a 2016 remaster I think in 24-96, and it’s like listening to a Spinal Tap soundtrack or something. Good 80’s memories maaaaaan. As for the audio quality, somebody else mentioned how the bitrate is a factor. I agree, many things I’ve read have mentioned how the human ear can’t really tell the difference once you get above 1,500 kbps / 24-44.1 , so it is a bit of a cash grab by the companies charging a premium for 24-192 content, but sometimes that’s the only version available. There’s a site called 24bit music where you can slow download for free. I do that and just let it download in the background.

Neil that would definitely be a good time!  We could take all of these recommendations for the listening party play list.  Let’s toast a happy Hanukkah and merry Christmas to all!

The super deluxe edition of the Yes album that was just released.  Excellent dynamics.
