Good stuff to listen to šŸŽµ

Hey guys, right now I am listening to Rammstein’s new album called “Zeit” on my 1723 S speakers (sounds great ā˜ŗļø).

From a “song-perspective” it unfortunately is a mediocre album, but from a production standpoint it is quite interesting.

While not super-audiophile in nature, they used 3D-Sound as mentioned in Apple Music’s album description.

Flake’s synth sounds really seem to come from behind or appear directly in your ear, also the guitar sound is PHat.

Songs I can recommend are:

1. Angst

2. Zick Zack

3. Armee der Tristen

4. Meine TrƤnen

5. Giftig

Do you guys have any opinion on Rammstein’s new album?

I grew up with CDs so that was my playback medium of choice for quite some time.
I am still thinking of buying my favorite CD Player of all time: the Sony SCD-777ES, but the used market for these is ridiculous. Especially when you factor in that you will have to service them and lasers are hard to come by.

Hi Lukas

A can’t speak for the Sony sound quality because at the time I couldn’t afford one. Never heard anything but good. My experience with other older players is they don’t sound up to par with the “newer” ones. And yes, servicing will come or it will be needed when you buy one. In my mind, I’m still having a hard time believing a $3k transport is any better than a $500 one. This is such a very divided subject. I don’t know when, but when the day comes, I’ll buy a relatively expensive transport when mine putters out and give it a go. I am fascinated with the Simaudio Moon CD player/ transport and almost made the move several times. Just not convinced the $3KĀ  will give audible results or diminishing return results. I know from past experience, a used will not be for me, especially an expensive one, there’s a lot of risk. Old used audio gear with electrolytic capacitors can suffer issues. Have experience with that one, thankfully it was equipment I was able to repair myself ( subwoofer amp and speaker crossovers, older equipment). Let us know what you decide.

I’ve had Sony CD players but not that model. Ā I Have had the 300 disc Sony carousel since 2007 but noticed some issues when I upgraded my system. Ā The Rotel RCD 2572 MKII with balanced XLR cables made a noticeable difference in the sound of CDs. Ā Paid about $800 US for a scratch and dent model that had no marks. Ā Agree with Neil that there’s a point of diminishing returns with high-end equipment. Ā I could have spent more but got a noticeable difference in sound for a reasonable price and I’m happy. Ā May upgrade other components over time but I’m set with this CD player.

Oh back on topic I really love the albums I’ve listened to from Rock Candy Funk Party. Groove is King is the latest. Ā More to go. Ā Great instrumental music.

If anyone is into modern jazz, great bass, very well recorded with a funky flair, give Bona Fide: “Soul Lounge” (CD my version) a go. Sounds so good on the Arendals.

Arkmann, I know you liked the base players. I just ordered a CD by Vail Johnson called “Flow”. He is a great bass player. I can’t find anywhere to listen to this disc, but got it for $5 and since much of his other stuff is so good, figured it’s worth a try. Check him out as well on Youtube.

Your welcome Arkmann. I’ll let you know if the album “Flow” is any good once it arrives. Based on much of his other stuff, it’s worth a go for me.
