Current movies with great sound

Hey guys,

I kind of feel there are not so many new movies released with better than average sound.
Most of them are okay but lack, especially dynamics.
They sound like they were mastered for your TV and soundbar and not for a great home-cinema experience.
Basically all Marvel/Disney movies fall into that category.

What current releases stood out to you?

My last two were:

Ghostbusters: Afterlife 2021
A nice and mellow family film with great sound design. A typical Sunday afternoon movie.

Last Night in Soho 2021
A very dynamic soundtrack, sometimes even too dynamic. Nothing for people living in apartments:)
The movie was okay, nothing extraordinary.

Just saw Ghosted yesterday, sound was actually quite good.

Movie was less good…
But Ana de Armas is a pleasure to look at.

Absolutely agree. Also watched Ghosted the other day.

Yesterday I watched Pearl, which had good sound and picture, but the movie was not really good. 3/10 I would say.

Citadel on Amazon Prime Video has really great sound, and is pretty decent as far as action stuff goes. Also, it’s available in 4K HDR Dolby digital plus.

I’ve never been a zombie show/movie fan, but this movie from 2013 has a wonderful DTS-HD MA 7.1 audio track that gives your subwoofer(s) a workout.  I just pre-ordered the 4K UHD-bluray from Amazon with a July 25 release.  I sure hope the new re-mastered Dolby Atmos mix continues the subwoofer workout and the video(Dolby Vision) is a big improvement.

@Michael – Been giving Citadel a try… not sure what it is though, not a fan thus fan.

@LC – We’re also looking forward to the 4K version of World War Z, wife and I like the movie.

Just watched Sisu. He’s John Wick’s grandpa and he’s not taking any of your guff. Thought it was pretty good and had a great soundtrack.

Wife and I watched this on Vudo last night… the opening scene was intense… the bass in the soundtrack hit very hard!  Overall an enjoyable movie…

@Luis, Will check that out. The rare action movie my wife would actually watch with me last night was “Polite Society”. Critics are calling it Kill Bill meets Jane Austen meets Bollywood. It’s bonkers in a great way. Definitely recommend.
