And before you conspiracy theorists come out of the woodwork at me, the way Amazon speakers work is this… they listen for the wake word for 60 seconds. If they don’t hear it, they stop, start over and listen for another 60 seconds. Unless it hears the wake word, then and only then, does it contact the Amazon service to execute that command. Those questions and commands are stored but if you wanted to delete them, you can. And frankly, I’m not sure what Amazon has to gain by knowing what playlists I listen to or which lightbulbs I have turned on… every once in a while it does get confused thinking it did hear the wake word we just ignore it.

they are simply cool toys that assist with home automation, not some evil AI bent on world domination ;)

Amazon has some really cool gadgets and programs for integration! Amazon products never really took off here in Norway (probably because we don’t have the Amazon store readily available), but I used to have an Echo Dot to control my lights and receiver. It was really cool! I never got around to setting up again after I moved, so I mostly just use Google assistant for that nowadays.

I completely agree; they are cool toys, and who knows; if they ever turn against humanity, we’ll be on their good side (hopefully) ;)

Did you guys see Terminator?  As soon as the equipment becomes aware we’re doomed! Doomed!  But seriously I tried Amazon music but didn’t like it as much as Qobuz.  Plus I don’t want more devices in my home listening to everything I say.  My smartphone does that already.

I’m not familiar with your ifi streamer but but you can stream lossless via airplay for Apple Music.  You first have to change the bit rate under Settings/Music/Audio Quality.  Hope that helps!

I use Spotify for non-critical listening and Apple music from the Ipad via the USB out or CDs for more serious sessions. Heos does not support Qobuz, except via Airplay, unfortunately.

I sold the ifi a few days ago and now rocking Apple Music with AirPlay , not lossless like Tidal was on the ifi streamer but good enough for me.

im a 90% movies guy so very little Music in this house.

The human ear can’t really appreciate anything over 1,500 kbps . So the whole 24-192 thing is a bit of a scam. ESPECIALLY if it’s vinyl coverted to flac. (don’t even get me started on how ridiculous the hipster vinyl craze is) Now I get that for some, being an audiophile means you have better ears than the rest of us ;)  Don’t get me wrong, I have well over a terabyte of flac music on an external drive and a good part of it is higher than 16-44.1 . It’s just the format it was available in. it may be higher bit rate than my ears can actually appreciate but I guess it doesn’t hurt. Can my fancy ears tell the difference? Probably not.

Also, my Marantz cinema 50 does have HEOS and I can play Amazon Music through that as well and it displays the high resolution bit rate as well . Not a big fan using HEOS, because it can be a bit buggy . Jus sayin

For those doubters in the crowd, screenshots of Amazon Music playing through HEOS. It’s a flac 24 bit-96. It accesses my Marantz receiver through the Wi-Fi via the app on my iPhone. it’s purty cool😎
