Lot of room to grow

On my way with the turn over to a matched Arendal speaker system. Next, replace my side surrounds and rear surrounds with the 1723 THX surround speakers. Thinking of adding a third set for front wides… should be fun! I build all my own stands, stages, and such. The center 1723 shown here is on my mock-up stand till I build the oak version. The speaker sock does a nice job of dressing it up, imo!

WOW! Your room looks great. How did you build your panels?

Thank you, I watched some YouTube videos. For me I wanted to save some money, plus I was not sure exactly what I needed so building myself allowed me to make changes in shapes and sizes. I used what was precut 1×4 x8 from The depot. The panels use 2-16 1/2 lengths for the top and bottom, 2- 47 inch lengths for the sides, 2- 15 inch boards for the top and bottom inside. I used safe and sound Rock-wool and it measures the 47 inches x 15 so it fit perfectly inside. I went to a local hobby store and bought some nice breathable fabric, 12 yards on sale for 7 dollars a yard down from 15 per yard. I bought a cheap electric staple gun from the depot (25 dollars) and stabled fabric to the back, placed the safe and sound inside, then took my time wrapping and stapling the front and sides to win a nice finish. To hang them, I made an 8 inch cleat from some of my scrap wood, cut an edge at an angle for the the 8 inch board on the wall, did the same for the board that I attached to the back of the panel, and set them in place. The panel stands off my walls about 3/4 of and inch. A nice look and better acoustic properties. Took about an hour all in per panel to assemble start to finish. I used a mirror to guide some of the placement looking for the reflection point off of my main speaker tweeter and then the center speaker tweeter. Im not the best in building things, but I do like to tinker and take my time to get it right. Most anyone with a saw, some screws/nails and staples can build these.

Hey Brian.
I think I will do something similar. I have some foam panels, but they are not very good and do not look very nice. My goal is to have a black tribal silk screen print effect on beige material. I remember seeing a tutorial on YouTube for an acoustic panel built on a stand. The finish was elegant and practical as it could be moved around. I never got around to building it even though I know I really need to. Thanks for taking the time to explain your build to me!
How are the stands coming along?

Center speaker stand finished. Not flashy, but I’m happy with it.
