What receivers/amplifiers do you use to drive you Arendal setups?

I’m curious, What receiver/preamp/source and/or amplifiers do you use with your Arendal speakers? Have you tested brands that worked better than others? I’m curious to know what you guys are using!

I’m using a Yamaha RX-A2060 to power a pair of 1961 Monitors and a 1723 Sub 1v and it sounds great! I might add a dedicated amplifier down the line if I get something bigger, but I definitely don’t feel like I’m missing much with my current setup.

This guy still thinks he needs an external amp…

Quite sure. I used one a couple of years ago. And you can set a crossover and the digital output would have a high pass filter set on it. I’m just not sure the quality of the sub out is good enough, though.

Okay, that is a great feature. As long as you have tried it.
Why should the sub out not be good enough? It is absolutely fine. I have used it multiple times.

@Lukas.

I meant the sub out from the Bluesound Node, particularly. But I am still researching and the MiniDSP SHD Studio seems to have digital outputs for 4 channels. And I can integrate the 2S that way. So I can choose which DAC to use for it.

on another note, the 1723 Monitors have arrived. And oh my gods! The build quality is amazing. Before learning about Arendal Sound I had an audtion with Fyne Audio F704 speakers driven by a Michi pre and amplifier. I must say the build quality of the 1723 Monitors is above the Fyne F704’s one. And they cost 7 times more. I was underwhelmed of the Fyne speakers sound. The Monitors + the 2S are now my end-game speakers. I’m still thinking to add another 2S subwoofer next year. But the sound signature is beautiful. There is a synergy between them and My Sugden amp that I am very, very, very happy with.

I was listening to Melody Gardot yesterday and my wife was impressed with her voice even though she listened to her multiple times. She thought she is a new addition to my playlist.

@Valentin

I have used the Bluesound Nodes subwoofer output multiple times, nothing to complain about there.
But yeah, a miniDSP is much more flexible with speaker configurations and calibration.

I am glad you are liking the sound. I thing a lot of people underestimate how good the speakers are with music.
A good speaker is a good speaker, no matter what you feed it:)

Congratulations!  2 subs are the way to go IMO if you have the space.  Enjoy!

I am using a Anthem mrx 740 and is a great experience

Marantz SR7015 in pre amp mode with Marantz MM8003.
Always been a fan off the Marantz sound! Sounds great.

But the Arendal speakers are the biggest WOW factor in my Livingroom for sure. I have had alot of speakers in my career (and alot More extensive the this) an none have maked me smile like the Arendals. I have even rewatched old movies just for the new sound experiences and i usually hate to rewatch but not now!
This is some high end shit ;)

Hello Everyone!

Can I assume from reading this thread that a Marantz sr-8015 will be more than enough to power an 11-channel system consisting of 3 – 1723 monitors, 4 – 1723 surround (all crossed over at 80hz) and as yet unknown Atmos speakers. I need in-ceiling so I can’t go with the Arendal height speakers.

Thank you,

Should do fine. I am using a Marantz Cinema 50 that has a little less wattage per channel and it does a great job running everything with no need for an external amplifier.
