A cup of coffee with
~ 30m² rectangular living room.
2.2 setup against one of the longer walls, slightly off-center
Speakers sit directly on top of the subs. Roughly 3m apart. The distance from the MLP to either speaker is about 3.5m.
I was looking for a 2.2 speaker/subwoofer setup.
After I had done my research, these were the reasons to go with Arendal Sound:
I first read about Arendal Sound in early 2023, when I was starting to investigate subwoofers for my new stereo setup. After reading various posts on various HiFi forums, like Audio Science Review, Stereophile, and Hifi.de, reviews with real measurements, it became clear to me that Arendal has probably the best cost/performance ratio.
1: The onboard PEQs on the 1723 subwoofers + manageability via the app.
2: 60-day audition period, with no risk of having to pay return fees.
3: Stellar reviews on ASR, hifitest.de, hifi.de, audioholics, ….
4: Performance during testing made it clear after just a few days that they were not going back.
Simply the best money I ever spent on audio equipment.
It just works and sounds so good. Besides, the build quality is excellent. “Looks” are subjective, I like them and my wife does too.
I’m extremely happy, I wouldn’t want to miss them.
I do use digital room correction via the miniDSP unit. Basic settings below 200Hz are done using REW. DIRAC on top is the icing on the cake. I would not go without it anymore.
But, even with DRC turned off, the speakers sound great.
My previous, MUCH more expensive “audiophile type” speakers sound good with DRC as well, but they play a lot worse w/o DRC.
