HOW IS YOUR ROOM SET UP?
Room is a dedicated living room with a dining room behind the listening seat. Wall and French doors run along the right side and is open left of the left speaker into a hall and foyer. The right speaker is less than a meter from the wall, unfortunately, but mitigated with room treatments to minimize first reflection, etc..
The ceiling is ~6 meters high in main listening area (loft style layout) and drops to ~2.5 meters behind the listening position into the dining area.
Overall size of room is approximately 9 x 4m with about 4m of that the lower ceiling into the dining room behind the listening position. A fireplace between the speakers protrudes out less than a meter. TV hangs over fireplace mantel. A couch, coffee table, and a couple of chairs are in the carpeted living room.
A 2-channel system with music reproduction as first priority, and movies.

WHAT WAS YOUR GOAL WHEN LOOKING FOR NEW SPEAKERS AND SUBWOOFERS?
Was looking to upgrade to a more accurate, resolving, detailed music listening experience. Was looking for characteristics for a well-rounded, accurate, and as close to full-range system I could get in some sense of a minimalist way (i.e. stand monitors).
I have improved the electronics to a level, I believe, that going beyond is probably superfluous regardless of cost. Then was looking for excellent-performing speakers without going into ridiculous pricing. Looking for the proverbial giant killer, as it were.

WHERE DID YOU HEAR ABOUT US?
First heard of Arendal from online reviewers. What ultimately kept my interest was a pretty good consensus between reviewers and user feedback that I decided to take a chance on Arendal. The industrial look isn’t my first love with them, but the performance is great. I doubt even if I’d spent twice as much, the experience would be better. I try not to get too caught up with the “brand” pride of ownership thing to impress other people.
I do wish, though, that Arendal offered some wood veneer options, even for a premium.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE ARENDAL SOUND?
Pretty much answered that in previous comments. But build, design, direct-to-customer, and return guarantee were also factors. A couple of reviewers I feel tuned into their tastes kept harping on this speaker really impressing, and even purchasing themselves made a difference in my choice.
YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH THE PRODUCTS?
Sound quality is very satisfying. Because of their robust build, finely designed drivers, cabinet engineering, high-tolerance crossover components, and some exotic materials utilized, these offer superior imaging, accurate tonal quality, and bass performance for their size. And they don’t draw attention to themselves. Quite remarkable.
Got to say further that the engineering to get this kind of deep, accurate bass response in a box (not that they’re small) this size is something. That said, I’m contemplating getting one of your subs. My room is pretty large in volume, and wish for a little more weight to the bass sometimes. But it’s very acceptable as it is.
WHAT ELSE DOES YOUR SYSTEM CONSIST OF?
- Amplifier: Schiit Tyr Mono amplifiers; Benchmark LPA4 Preamp/Headphone amp
- Source devices: Bell Canto CD transport (also trying a Shanling ET3 transport); Lumin U2 Mini (with external power supply)
- Subwoofer: None currently, contemplating adding one
- Other: Benchmark DAC3 B; Canare cabling, full loom on all components including speaker cables; Audioquest Niagara 1200 power conditioner/spike protector fed via an Anti Cables power cord; several other upgraded power cables, mostly 10 gauge; HiFiMan Arya Organic headphones
- Future upgrades: Contemplating adding an Arendal subwoofer for more bass weight in a large room
HOW HAPPY ARE YOU WITH ARENDAL SOUND PRODUCTS?
The Arendal 1528 Bookshelf speakers have elevated my music system into the realm of performance I was seeking. They are the accurate purveyors of recorded music (and movie soundtracks) I was looking for. They offer clean, focused, tonally accurate, near full-range, properly controlled sound reproduction. You really can’t go wrong.
