A cup of coffee with
from Denmark
My setup is in the center of the living room. I’ve always enjoyed playing different kinds of music, without focusing on any specific genre. With experience as a radio host, a roadie, and through an internship at an audiovisual production company, I’ve been committed to building a setup at home that allows me to listen to music and experience movies in a meaningful way.
Over the years, I’ve gradually updated my system based on what I could afford.
At the beginning of 2024, I felt ready to upgrade again. I was either going to add a subwoofer to support the speakers I already had or wait a few more years before upgrading to a new speaker class.
I was looking for something tall and sculptural that could also play music really well. In terms of sound, it had to be better than what I had before.
Price was also a consideration – everything I looked at came with a hefty price tag. What surprised me with these speakers was the level of sound quality for the money. In his review, Iagi mentioned that whatever one is getting in those speakers would be a bargain for the price – that’s when I knew I had to take a closer look.
I first heard about Arendal Sound when Jay Iagi published a YouTube review of the 1528 Tower speakers in October 2024. His detailed impressions got me curious, and the more I looked into the brand, the more it resonated with me.
The decision to buy Arendal was surprisingly easy. My wife has a soft spot for all things Norwegian, so that helped. The design – especially the curved front baffle – stood out. I also wanted something that could stand tall in our living room, visually and sonically. These speakers had to be in focus and capable of filling the space with excellent sound.
I liked the option of trying the speakers for two months and returning them if they weren’t the right fit. I could afford them, and they were approved by my wife.
But the real question is not why I bought them – it’s why I kept them.
My experience with Arendal Sound can be summed up in one word: music. The sound is full-bodied, precise, and present. Whether I want deep, powerful impact or something more subtle, the speakers deliver it with ease.
The towers are placed in the main room of our home – the space where our family passes through constantly. I wanted something that looked good and could create an atmosphere: for cooking, for dinner, for relaxing on the sofa or terrace. These speakers aren’t tucked away in a dedicated listening room.
They’re part of our daily life, and they need to play that role well. Visually and sonically, they anchor the room and fit into everything from quiet mornings to loud weekends.
Music is streamed through Roon from a dedicated server and played via a stereo setup powered by a Lyngdorf TDAI-3400.
On a scale from 1 to 10, I’d rate them a 12. They’ve far exceeded my expectations—not just in terms of sound quality, but in how much joy they bring to the space. Every time I sit down to listen, I’m reminded I made the right choice.
One of the best parts?
My family listens to more music now. My wife and kids have started to share in the experience, and it’s become something we enjoy together. Hearing music through a quality setup changes the experience completely. It’s no longer just background noise—it’s something we gather around and feel.
