A cup of coffee with
from Denmark
As an acoustic engineer, sound is extremely important to me. My hifi journey started back in the early 2000s, when I found out that great sound had a huge impact on both movies and music.
Kids and work took up a lot of time, and upgrades were sparse for some time. Living room speakers had done their duty after almost 20 years of solid performance. The brand from Arendal sounded promising, and their pricing seemed fair.
My home cinema was getting a remodel, and I was transitioning to an acoustically transparent screen. I needed speakers with a reasonable footprint. As an engineer, I was focused on performance. I needed speakers with low distortion and accurate sound representation, built on scientifically sound principles, that were priced fairly.v
My journey with great sound began in the early 2000s when I found out how much of an impact quality sound had on both movies and music. My first real subwoofer was an SVS model, which I bought from a Norwegian company called Lsound. At some point, Lsound stopped selling SVS and began focusing on its own brand, Arendal, named after their town. This new brand from Arendal sounded promising, and their pricing seemed fair.
The first time I chose Arendal was for my home cinema. I ordered three 1723 monitors and was very successful with them. I measured and adjusted my setup to get the best performance. Later, I expanded the collection and used the 1961 bookshelves for surround duty. When it was time to upgrade the living room, the 1528 series was a natural choice. I needed solid measurements to justify the price over the 1723s, and the reviews were strong.
The new speakers play with immense power and control. They deliver precise, tight, and very present low frequencies, so a subwoofer is not required. I am confident I will not be returning these.
