Building My Forever Setup

I first discovered Arendal Sound online in mid-2023 while searching for the perfect audio setup for my new space. I wanted a brand that wouldn’t just deliver in terms of performance but would also match the aesthetic vision I had in mind—and all without totally breaking the bank. After a challenging year and a few unexpected life changes, I was finally ready to find a “forever” audio system, and I’m thrilled Arendal was there to fill that role.

Why I Chose Arendal Sound 

From the beginning, Arendal’s price-to-performance ratio stood out to me, and I loved the design of the 1723 series. There’s a level of care in Arendal’s craftsmanship that’s evident the moment you open the first box. The clean, modern aesthetic fit perfectly with the space I envisioned, and everything I read and watched gave me the confidence to order a full 5.2.2 system without ever having a demo. Working with the Arendal team to fine-tune my setup, especially around bass considerations, made the process smooth and reassuring. My room isn’t a standard home theater layout, and I wanted to ensure the system would perform optimally despite that. 

The Unboxing and Setup Process 

When the system arrived, my space was still under construction, which meant a few agonizing months of staring at Arendal’s giant boxes in my great room. But once I finally began unboxing and setting up, my excitement skyrocketed. With everything dialed in, I loaded up Blade Runner 2049 to test the setup, and it didn’t take more than an hour to realize the 60-day trial period wasn’t needed — none of this gear was going back. 

My Home Theater Setup 

My room is an open-plan great room that combines the living room and dining area. It’s large and open but not massive. I chose a BDI cabinet to anchor the system and built out the back wall for the TV and wiring. Here’s the full setup: 

  • Audio System: Marantz Cinema 50 with a Panasonic UB-9000 for movies 
  • Display: 77” LG G3 
  • Front: 1723 S Towers 
  • Center: 1723 S Center 
  • Overhead: 1723 S Heights 
  • Surrounds: 1723 S Surrounds 

The 1723 S Series speakers are substantial yet fit perfectly in my space. The two 1723 1V subwoofers provide incredibly tight and refined bass, even with the high ceilings and open layout. I went with the satin white finish to keep the room light and inviting while maintaining a slight touch of authority. 

My Experience and Final Thoughts 

I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. This is my first venture into a mid- to high-end system, and I’m amazed by the performance. The clarity, dynamics, and refined power in every movie and song have exceeded my expectations, and I see myself as a long-term Arendal customer. If I ever end up in a bigger space, I’ll definitely be eyeing up the 1528 series, even if it’s just a dream for now. Arendal has set a high bar, and I’m more than satisfied with my “forever” system.
