Looking for articulating wall mount for 1961s

I know Arendal sells a mount, but it’s flush and non-articulating. I see a lot on Amazon but they seem to either be a fixed 2’ish cm from the wall or they’re big and strick out a crazy amount. My idea was to mount the monitors on the side of my TV and the center under the middle. I’d think having at least 15-20cm between the wall and the speaker would make it sound better. And I could also angle them as needed.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a mount? Also the ones I’m finding all look like they might be 1 of a couple just rebranded,

I just installed a pair of Mount-It! MI-2829 Small TV Monitor Wall Mount for 1961 height speakers. A couple of comments:

  • I had to drill out the holes for M6 bolts (1/4” bit)
  • The horizontal sweep is limited when tilting speaker forward.

All working good for me but I am at the limit of mount range with speakers tilted forward. Otherwise mount works well and is solid into stud. FYI

Hi Craig. Can you explain what you mean horizontal sweep is limited when tilting speaker forward? Do you mean the bottom corner of the speaker will come into contact with the wall too soon? Or something else?

I am still looking for a solution. Most of the small mounts that seem ideal have M4 or M5 bolt holes not M6.  Most of the bigger mounts with M6 bolt holes have wall mounting plates with four lag bolt holes that are spaced wider than a 2×4 stud. I have yet to find a swiveling tilting mount that has a mount plate with 2 lag holes to attach to one 2×4, and has a VESA 100 speaker plate with M6 holes.

Rob,

Exactly, the horizontal sweep becomes limited. Attached picture should help.

The holes were easy to drill out, standard US 1/4″ bit (6-7mm) with small battery drill/screw driver.

I ran into the same problem with lack of single stud mounting. I suspect it has to do with TV’s and someone torquing the mount by pulling down on one side?

My surround are 3′ (900mm) above listening position and 2′ (600mm) behind so I need speaker to rotate and point down towards ears. At the limit forward and laterally, the speaker points at the top of my head, close enough.

Rob – This is the next closest thing I found if more mounting flexibility is required.

This type of mount may not be as solid and the folding arm will take up more space. There is a drawing on the webpage so you can see all the dimension.

Can you tell me what metric the 1961 bookshelf speakers have?
can it be 6mm?

I had a 6mm x 15mm bolt at home and tested it on my 1961 Monitors and it fit perfectly. The 15mm length could be screwed all the way into the insert so I bought 6mm x 20mm for mounting the bracket which work well. The 1961 height speakers were the same size that I mounted with the brackets.

I am a US resident so given that Arendal says they are 6mm inserts, I would not think that they are a 3/16″ or 1/4″ bolt that sort of works.

The bracket holes are too small for a 6mm bolt unless one wanted to hammer it in and thread the hole with the bolt using great strength.

I found a standard issue US 1/4″ drill bit (6.35mm) worked perfectly for reaming the hole out with little mess and not too large.
