Ralph’s Arendal Sound Experience

functionality and high-performance sound quality

My room is 21 x 15 ft, with some soundproofing added to manage excess noise. It’s a cozy space optimized for both functionality and high-performance sound quality.

Goals When Looking for New Speakers and Subwoofers

Initially, I was simply chasing the best sound I could find. Over the years, I’ve owned a variety of speakers from brands like Klipsch, Martin Logan, RBH, Polk, KLH, and SVS. They were all good in their own way, but as I matured and learned more about audio systems, I started to understand what truly mattered. My goal evolved into finding a system that delivered exceptional performance, durability, and aesthetics.

Why I Chose Arendal Sound

I first heard about Arendal Sound about three years ago through a YouTube channel called SpareChange. The review caught my attention, and from that point, I couldn’t shake the itch to try them. At the time, I already owned SVS Ultra speakers, but I decided to take the plunge and start with the 1723 THX Center channel speaker to see how it compared.

The first impression? It was enormous compared to my SVS Ultra Center—dual 8” drivers vs. dual 6.5” drivers. From the build quality to the sound output, it felt like a boxing match, and the Arendal center came out on top. The heavier build and more refined performance won me over. After that, I couldn’t resist upgrading the rest of my system. I added the 1723 THX Towers and the 1723 THX Surrounds to complete the setup.

I also couldn’t ignore the aesthetics. The white matte finish gives these speakers a sleek, modern look that makes them stand out in my room. Combined with the tank-like build quality, they’re a perfect mix of beauty and brawn.

System Details

My current setup includes:

  • Speakers: 1723 Tower THX, 1723 Center THX, 1723 Surround THX
  • Amplification: Emotiva XPA-3 differential amplifier for the main three channels, paired with another Emotiva XPA-3 custom-built amp with six 225-watt channels to power the surrounds
  • Processor: Marantz AV-8805 with XLR connections for a cleaner, balanced sound
  • Subwoofers: Not Arendal yet, but upgrading to Arendal subs is definitely in my future plans. I’ve heard incredible things about them.

My Experience with Arendal Sound

Without a doubt, these are my favorite speakers to date. The detailed sound from the highs, lows, and mid-range is forward and neutral, a significant step up from my SVS Ultras and other brands I’ve owned. The power of my amps — 450 watts RMS in differential amplification — pairs beautifully with the Arendal system, delivering an expansive, detailed soundstage.

The surrounds are particularly impressive. They’re so detailed that they feel like full-range speakers, immersing you completely in the sound. It’s an experience that’s hard to put into words but impossible to miss when you hear it.

I’m located in the USA, and Arendal Sound has exceeded all my expectations. From the build quality to the sound performance and the striking design, these speakers are an absolute joy to own. They’ve set a new standard for me, and I can’t wait to complete my system with their subwoofers in the future.
