The first things you notice when you lift the Arendal Sound 1610 Bookshelf 8 out of its packaging are its striking appearance and the substantial weight, a testament to its heavily-built cabinet. Despite its name, it’s very much a standmount loudspeaker, featuring a three-way topology with a 28mm (1.1″) aluminum-magnesium-dome tweeter mounted in a waveguide, a 127mm (5″) carbon-cone midrange driver behind a perforated plate, and a 203mm (8″) aluminum-cone woofer. The final factor of note is its sound—detailed, clear, and presented on a spacious, well-defined soundstage.
