A New Era in Sound

Inspired by the Norwegian town of Arendal’s rich history, the flagship 1528 Series represents over a decade of meticulous design, analysis, testing, and most importantly, listening.
At Arendal Sound, we are committed to delivering an outstanding quality of materials and fidelity. The 1528 Series is the pinnacle of our range — where innovative Nordic engineering meets a serious passion for incredible sound.
Designed for discerning listeners who demand immersive, high-end audio for both music and movies, the 1528 Series is built around the RØST Reference Acoustic Core — our benchmark expression of purity, precision, and tonal truth.
Developed as the flagship evolution of a decade in premium speaker design, 1528 introduces a fresh 3-way architecture engineered as a complete acoustic system, delivering even greater power, control, and realism.
The 1528 Series is not designed to impress on first listen alone. It is designed to endure — an investment in sound that does more than fill your room. It defines it.
The 1528 Series stands out with precise, innovative Nordic engineering and each hand-built speaker undergoes rigorous testing to meet our uncompromising standards. Built with higher-grade components, such as the unique 28mm lithium-magnesium tweeter, every detail is crafted for exceptional clarity and depth. Backed by meticulous design, an unyielding commitment to quality, and a risk-free 60-day home audition, this is sound you can trust.

Let’s be clear — 1528 Series speakers are BIG. Not only in terms of sound, but also size. But a wide selection of speaker types caters for a variety of room dimensions, and there’s a choice of either Basalt or Polar finishes. Whether you’re after full-size towers or slim bookshelves, our dedicated team of in-house customer experience specialists are on hand to find the perfect audio solution for your space.
Great sound has the power to evoke emotions, to transport you to another time and place, to create unforgettable memories, and even improve mental well-being. Equally at home in a two-channel stereo set up, or as part of a thrilling home cinema, the 1528 Series aims to take your listening experience to a new level, bringing you ever closer to the music and movies you love.
In the early days of shipping, the southern part of Norway was a sought-after location for its abundance of trees. Ships from Scandinavia and Northern Europe flocked to the region, drawn by the promise of high-quality timber. Seizing an opportunity, these international shippers cut down trees along the coastline, often taking them back for production without paying a krone — a practice that didn’t go unnoticed by the Norwegian crown.
To protect this valuable resource, the King of Norway imposed supervision
and fees on tree-cutting activities. As the timber supply near the coast dwindled, the loggers ventured further inland along the fjords, giving rise to the profession of log rafting. This new trade required a harbor where timber could be stored and managed — a role perfectly suited to the city of Arendal.
Arendal’s natural harbor became a bustling hub, a place where timber was gathered, controlled, and eventually shipped to eager customers across Europe. The city’s name, “Arendell,” first appeared in documents from 1528, marking its newfound importance to the timber trade and setting the stage for a legacy of excellence.
THE BIRTH OF THE 1528 SERIES: A REVOLUTION IN AUDIO
Fast forward to the present day, and Arendal Sound proudly continues this tradition of excellence with the launch of the 1528 Series — a line of high-end speakers that embody the spirit of Arendal’s rich history. Much like the timber trade that once defined the city, the 1528 Series is our commitment to putting Arendal on the map once again.
Drawing inspiration from the superior quality of the timber that was vital in 1528, we’ve crafted the 1528 Series to set new standards in audio excellence. This series represents a dedication to quality, innovation, and the pursuit of perfection, ensuring that Arendal Sound stands out in the world of high-end audio just as Arendal itself once did in the world of timber trade.
There’s a new flagship in Arendal city.
The 1528 Series delivers this experience through the RØST Reference Acoustic Core — a fully engineered 3-way system designed for realism, scale, and control.
By integrating a waveguide-loaded tweeter, a precision carbon-graphene midrange, and a powerful bass foundation into a single, time-aligned architecture, the 1528 creates a soundstage that feels open, dynamic, and effortlessly lifelike.
It’s not about volume alone — it’s about presence, impact, and the feeling of being there.
Every speaker in the 1528 Series line-up features a stiff, 25mm thick HDF (high-density fiberboard) cabinet construction designed to eliminate resonance. The curved, 85mm hand-crafted, front baffle ensures that each driver is perfectly directed to the listening position, eliminating phase discrepancies. The result? Outstanding transparency, dynamics and soundstage.

At the top of the RØST Reference Acoustic Core is a custom 28mm lithium-magnesium tweeter, engineered for speed, precision, and low distortion.
Integrated into a large-format controlled-directivity waveguide, the tweeter is shaped and positioned as part of a unified acoustic system. The waveguide controls dispersion, minimizes room interaction, and aligns the high frequencies precisely with the drivers below — creating a wide, stable listening window with exceptional clarity and focus.
This is where detail begins, without edge or fatigue.

As frequencies move from precision to presence, the RØST Reference midrange takes over.
The custom 5” carbon-graphene midrange driver is optimized for accuracy, speed, and tonal neutrality, forming the critical link between the waveguide-loaded tweeter and the bass system. Its light, stiff construction minimizes distortion while preserving the natural body and texture of voices and instruments.
The result is seamless integration through the most sensitive part of the sound spectrum — where dialogue feels real, music feels alive, and nothing draws attention to itself.

Our new, custom-designed 8″ aluminum long-throw bass drivers feature a prism structure for added stiffness and have inverted surrounds for a sleek, integrated design. They give a dynamic performance with deep, impactful bass that you feel as much as you hear. A stylish, rubber-backed, magnetically attached, steel grille will keep sticky little fingers away from the action.
