My room is approximately 28 square meters, an irregular size with a long right side. The listening position is close to the wall. Not perfect, but 1723 surrounds help a lot here. I have Atmos speakers on the ceiling in front of the sitting position and height speakers, as you can see in the pictures. Subwoofers beside my front speakers – 1S and 2S.
I use my setup equally for music and movies. A lot of classical music, but also Pop, Jazz, FX, Diana Krall, Beth Hart, Malia, Sara K, etc.
When did you first hear about Arendal Sound?
I heard about Arendal in a German magazine, especially for surround – called Heimkino. I speak and write German too – German family. The test convinced me immediately.
I have had stereo as my hobby since I was 14 years old, and I knew there was something special.
What caught my attention was the build Quality (HDF), transducers, crossover, power handling, 60-day return, etc.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE ARENDAL SOUND?
Before Arendal I had Vienna Strauss, Oratorio, and for rears Kef Tripole THX from the seventies. Really nice speakers, and the Kef did sound very similar to my Arendal plus SVS subwoofer. But the system wasn`t homogeneous and I am very sensitive to phase problems. I was looking for equal speakers and a good look, all-around sound with the right voicing. Good for stereo and surround sound.
I am a classical piano player and go to live concerts. Arendal delivers all these things. I know from real life how it has to play.
What has your experience with the products been like?
Arendal speakers delivered all I was looking for, second thought, maybe a little airiness on top. The subwoofers work 100% as I want them to, but the processor is the main issue here in controlling them.
What equipment are you using today?
I have recently upgraded to a Lyngdorf MP40 2.1 with RoomPerfect™. A professional choice. NAD M28 Amp 7 x 350 w in 4 ohms and a Yamaha MX-A 5200 for Atmos. NAD is the best amp I have ever heard, and that goes for Lyngdorf too. Distortion and noise are gone completely. Yamaha will leave and be replaced by NAD. Audioquest Niagara 5000 powerplant and only Audioquest cables. Panasonic DB-UP 9004 upgraded at Autentic Cinema in Germany.
In the future, the new 1528 series has my interest, and how good they are in real-life experience. You can tell the 1723 series will mix well. Maybe side speakers, too.
How do you feel about your system now?
The Lyngdorf was a fantastic upgrade. RoomPerfect™ really solved all my problems in my room. It respects my Arendal speakers’ original sound and only changes where it is needed – taking away RoomPerfect™ shows this. Subwoofers integrate flawlessly both in stereo and surround. Small things in films are placed correctly in the room and are natural. The only adjustment is plus 2 dB from 7500 Hz, but it was the same on my old processor. As I see it, noise is the main problem in processors and channel separation. I demote a Marantz AV 10. It was good, but not near Lyngdorf, and Audyssey killed the sound.
I retire from work 01.01.2026 and plan – I hope – to do what I want.
