My room is 21ft x 14ft with two openings in one corner. The two openings do affect first reflections of left speaker and bass response. It is a fairly neutral room due to the wall-to-wall, thick carpet, and some room treatments. I sit about 12ft from the speakers, and the speakers are 9ft apart, 14 inches off the back wall to the back of the speakers, and 5½ft from the side walls.
I had a pair of B&W 802 speakers from 2002 to 2014, wonderful speakers, but at about 175 lbs., they were not easy to move around. I sold those and purchased a pair of B&W 805D4, and paired a sub with them. I owned them till about 2020. I purchased a pair of Fyne 501SP speakers next. They were very nice but lacked a little in the bass. I ordered a pair of SVS Ultra Evolution towers to try. I was not very pleased with their sound and stability (too narrow for the height and width), so I returned them.
While still owning the Fyne speakers, I ordered a pair of your 1528 bookshelf speakers. I ordered them after watching and reading all of the positive reviews. I will tell you one of the main reasons was your return policy. I was looking for speakers that were very detailed in their sound reproduction and had a wide soundstage. After some trial and error in speaker positioning, I achieved my goal. I do realize that speaker positioning and room acoustics are very important to the final sound. I also know that after a certain amount of time, you get used to the sound, and it can lose a little of that original sound.
YouTube channels that influenced me were Jay’s Iyagi, Audioholics, Audio Advice, and Nemo Propaganda. I also read whatever written reviews there were during my research period.
The Arendal speakers seemed to have the sound I was looking for, detailed and able to listen to for hours. Review, 60 day trial period, and return policy, also the many positive reviews.
Very good build quality, and very good sound, great detail, and sound stage. I owned B&W Nautilus 802, 804, 805, and 805D4 speakers over a 20-year period and Fyne 502SP prior to buying my 1528 bookshelf speakers. The 1528 Bookshelf bass was very comparable to the B&W 802 speakers, and the treble was also very comparable. All of this for a lighter speaker.
I am very pleased with Arendal Sound. These are speakers I can sit down and listen to for hours and get lost in the music.
Well-recorded recordings are always a plus to make these speakers shine. Artists I prefer are Patricia Barber, Lee Ritenour, and Pat Metheny. But also just about any genre.
I am a retired cabinet maker and made the stands myself.
