My room is 18 x 22 x 8.5 ft (W x D x H), around 400 SF, with the speakers set up on the 18 ft wall. It’s a dedicated room, my “man cave,” built inside a 1500 SF steel building I put up for my business. The listening position is about 10 to 12 feet back from the speaker wall, centered in the room. I use the space for music, movies, gaming, and working out, but it’s mostly music.
I have multiple systems, but wanted to build a specific high-end system. I wanted a concert-like system with lots of detail, huge stage, and great dynamics. Trying to build the best system I can without spending a crazy amount of money.
I learned about your speakers from multiple YouTube videos, especially Jay Iyagi’s videos on the Arendal speakers. What stood out to me in Jay’s review was the way he described the sound. I love bass and dynamics, and when he said it has flagship-level bass, it caught my attention. Jay described how authoritative and powerful the bass was without being booming and having great decay and texture like an acoustic suspension type of speaker. He also talked about how fast and punchy the bass was, which is exactly the type of bass I like. Jay also talked about how dynamic the mid-range was and how close it was to the 1528 speakers, which I have been interested in for some time now. One thing I was worried about was the aluminum in the tweeter because I like to listen loud, and I didn’t want it to be harsh and too fatiguing, so when he said the tweeter didn’t sound like a typical aluminum dome tweeter, I was happy. Jay said it was airy and sweet and a little softer than the 1528, which I also prefer. Another thing I really like is a massive sound stage with pinpoint imaging and separation of the sounds, and that is exactly how he described the 1610 towers. I like to listen loud and feel the music, and when he said how composed these speakers were at cranking volumes, I knew these were my type of speakers.
I picked the Arendals because of all the good reviews and because I wanted tower speakers that were neutral with lots of detail and that imaged great with killer dynamics and big bass. I also love the way they look with the grills off!!
I was looking at the Arendal 1528 towers for the past year, but they were a little more than what I wanted to spend on tower speakers, so when the 1610s came out, I was very interested. I also felt like the 1528 towers may overpower my room, and that the 1610s would be a perfect fit for my man cave listening room.
First off, I love the looks of the 1610 speakers. They have a very futuristic, modern, aggressive, and powerful look that screams high-end build quality. When I first saw the 1610 towers, I could picture them in my 400 SF man cave with the grills off, looking ready to blow your socks off! They are not just a speaker, but a work of art that stands out and grabs your attention.
I also decided on the 1610 towers because I like the direct-to-consumer way they do business. This helps keep the cost down, and I feel you get way more than what you pay for with the 1610 towers. I am always looking for the best bang for the buck, and I believe the 1610 towers are exactly that. For their price, you will not find a better tower speaker in terms of sound quality and build quality.
Another reason I chose Arendal is because I know they come with an in-home trial and that I could always return them if I didn’t like them. The ten-year warranty is also a plus and tells me that they are using high-quality parts and components and that Arendal stands behind their products. After I got the towers, I had a couple of questions about the bolt size on the feet, and they responded that day and were very helpful. Arendal is a top-notch company in all aspects, and I will continue to buy their speakers and products because for the money, you won’t find better!!
I am still breaking the speakers in, and they keep getting better and better each day. The build quality is top-notch with high-end parts and internals.
The imaging and airy top end surprised me the most. The sound is big and airy with lots of detail and speed and great punch and dynamics. The imaging is also next-level. I have never owned towers before, just bookshelf speakers, but these are the best speakers I have ever owned and heard.
As the speakers broke in, the bass got more dynamic and punchy, the midrange got more relaxed and smoother, and the treble became more open and airy. Overall, the sound stage grew, and the imaging got more pinpoint. Now that they are fully broken in, they sound absolutely amazing!! The sound stage is so big it fills the entire room, ceiling to floor and wall to wall. One of my friends was listening the other day, and he couldn’t believe it was just the 2 tower speakers playing. He thought I had full surround sound. Voices are locked in the center and sound so big you feel like they are in the room with you and singing right in front of you, even though you are 12 feet back from the speakers. The imaging is so precise and pinpoint that you can see exactly where the sound is coming from and not just left to right, but front to back also. The sound stage is super deep with multiple layers that extend behind the speakers and all the way to the back of the room. In the past, I have always had a 2D wall of sound, but now with the 1610 tower speakers, there is a 3D soundstage that has depth and fully surrounds you in a bubble of sound. The Arendal 1610 towers are truly an “End Game” tower speaker without the end game price. I couldn’t be happier with them!!
I really like electronic music, and listening to Symbolico with all the different sounds moving all around was when I was really blown away by these speakers. I wasn’t just hearing the sound, but I was feeling and seeing it. It was Magical!!
I am extremely happy with the sound! The sound stage is wide and deep with great separation between the sounds. The imaging is so good I feel like I can see the music within the sound stage when I close my eyes. The top end is super airy and surrounds you so well that sometimes it sounds like I have a surround sound system. Voices are huge and locked in the center as if the person was singing live on stage. The bass is super fast and punchy and hits you in the chest!
I am limited on power in my room, so that is why I went with the Galion Discovery mono blocks, but I know with bigger amps, the bass could really come alive. The amps have cut out a couple of times now because the speakers sound so good, I keep wanting to turn them up LOL!! I am looking at the Liav Harmony gan amps, which are 400w into 4 ohms and don’t require a lot of power.
