My system is set up in a 4.8m x 3.8m x 2.4m living room, rather than a dedicated cinema room. The main listening position is approximately in the centre/rear half of the room, with the system arranged around the primary seating position and the screen at the front. It is a full home-cinema setup, but I also use it extensively for music, so getting the system to perform well with both movies and music is very important to me.
Coming from another brand, I wanted to move to a system that could deliver much greater dynamics, clarity, and impact without sacrificing musicality. My goal was to have a truly immersive cinema experience with the scale and punch to make movies exciting, while still being detailed, controlled, and enjoyable for music. The Arendal 1723S system gave me the combination I was looking for, particularly its effortless dynamics, tight, controlled bass, and ability to play at high levels without sounding strained.
I learned of Arendal Sound from a UK audio visual site, and a member on there invited me over to his house to listen to his 5.2 Arendal Sound 1723 system.
I chose Arendal Sound because the combination of performance, build quality, and value was difficult to match. Coming from another brand, I was particularly impressed by how the 1723S speakers delivered exceptional dynamics, clarity, and control while still sounding natural and musical. The more I researched Arendal and listened to the 1723S range, the more I felt that they offered the kind of serious performance I was looking for without the inflated pricing often associated with high-end audio.
Not to mention the excellent customer support team, whom I have got to know over the years, with my many questions. I doubt many other audio companies have such dedicated team, that all share the same passion.
My experience with Arendal Sound has gone well beyond my own 1723S system, as I have also helped friends choose their systems and have had experience with the 1961, 1723 and 1723S ranges. Over the years, I have also spent a lot of time with many of the Arendal subwoofers, including the Subwoofer 1, 2 and 3, as well as the 1961 1S and 1V. What has consistently stood out to me is the combination of excellent build quality, exceptional dynamics, and very controlled, powerful bass, without the sound becoming harsh or fatiguing. Coming from another brand, the difference in impact, control, and overall confidence at higher volumes was immediately noticeable to me. I have also found Arendal’s products remarkably consistent across the ranges, which is something I really value when building or helping others build a complete system.
What surprised me most was just how effortlessly the 1723S system can play at extremely high levels while remaining clean, controlled, and composed. Coming from my previous speakers, which I actually managed to blow a tweeter on, the difference was huge; the Arendals simply kept delivering without sounding strained or losing control. Jan even joked that I would get a special prize if I ever managed to blow a tweeter on my 1723s! After many, many trouble-free years of enjoyment, I still haven’t managed it — the system is performing brilliantly and continues to put a huge smile on my face every time I use it. For me, that combination of extreme output, reliability, and sound quality is what really sets the Arendal experience apart.
I honestly couldn’t be happier with my Arendal Sound system. After many years of using it, I’m still impressed by how effortlessly it performs, and it continues to put a smile on my face every time I sit down to listen to music or watch a movie. Over the years, getting to know the Arendal Sound team and other end users through the community has made the experience about much more than just owning great equipment; it genuinely feels like being part of something, and I’ve connected with like-minded people from all over the world. I’m so impressed with Arendal that I’m already planning my next upgrade, including a higher-performance processor and amplifiers, along with moving to the flagship 1528 series. For me, that’s probably the biggest compliment I can give Arendal — I’m not looking to move away from the brand; I’m looking forward to taking the system even further.
My journey with Arendal Sound has become about much more than simply buying a set of speakers. What started with choosing the 1723S system after coming from another brand has developed over the years into a genuine passion for the products, the people behind the company, and the community around it. I’ve enjoyed helping friends choose their own Arendal systems, experiencing different products across the 1961, 1723, and 1723S ranges, and spending time with many of the different subwoofers along the way.
What I really appreciate is that Arendal doesn’t feel like just another audio brand. Getting to know the team, especially Jan and Thomas, and connecting with other enthusiasts from all over the world has made me feel like I’m part of a community of genuinely like-minded people. My own system has given me many years of enjoyment and countless memorable movie nights and music sessions, and the fact that I’m already planning my next Arendal upgrade probably says everything about how I feel about the brand. I’d love the opportunity to share that enthusiasm and experience with other people as an Arendal Sound ambassador.
