Bass and lower midrange reproduction is handled by a custom-designed 8” aluminium cone woofer, optimized for stiffness and control in the frequencies where cone breakup is far removed from the operating range.
The one-piece cone features a prism structure for added stiffness, and an inverted surround for a sleek, integrated design.
While aluminium cones can be problematic in the upper midrange, in the lower registers they become a major advantage—delivering a level of clarity and articulation in bass dynamics and lower male vocals that is both powerful and remarkably detailed, given the right cone geometry.
The woofer motor is engineered for deep bass extension, high excursion capability and low distortion, supported by a robust surround structure with internal ribbing. This geometry is simulated using COMSOL to ensure stable cone behavior even under extreme excursion, keeping distortion tightly controlled at high output.
The low distortion levels are achieved by using multiple aluminium and copper shorting rings in the motor, that reduces and evens out the inductance over the entire moving range of the woofer.
