For normal usage of the 1723 Surround S and you must have the bridges connected.
By removing the bridges you disconnect the side drivers on the 1723 Surround and 1723 Surround S.
This can be done if you want to use the Surround speakers as Atmos channels to get a more direct sound from the drivers on the front baffle alone.
