Spikes vs Rubber Pucks

June 14, 2024

All of our Tower speakers come with a spikes kit and additional rubber feet we call the puck.

We often get the question of what is better and the answer is as always: it depends!

The spikes will couple to the floor and transfer vibrations into it. That makes sense if you have a stable heavy floor like tiles or concrete, even if there is a carpet on top. The result is a tighter bass response and a secure and firm stand. If you want to avoid any scratches, please use the included counter discs under the spike.

The rubber pucks on the other hand are great for sensitive light floors like wood or something that easily resonates. The rubber decouples the speaker from the floor and does not transfer vibrations.
Depending on the room it can sound just as tight as with spikes, but you will void any unwanted distortions from the floor. Our Tower speakers feature a very heavy construction so cabinet resonances are kept at a minimum.
Another benefit is of course that you cannot scratch your floors with the rubber puck.

Other than that we encourage you to experiment and find out what works best for you.
Have fun testing!
